RULES OF CONDUCT AND ETIQUETTE
Mindful Observation/Responsibility
Be mindful of Doshu, Grandmaster, Shihan, & Sensei titles – within and outside the style
Be mindful of the highest rank that may be present at your dojo, a dojo you are visiting, or during a rank exam
Remove your shoes and leave your ego outside upon entering the dojo.
Maintain a quiet/reserved attitude when entering the dojo
Observe proper etiquette of bowing entering and leaving the dojo
Have respect for those meditating and training
Bow respectfully to your training partners, and thank them for training
Pay careful attention to class instruction and to those around you
Learn by repetition, save questions and talking for the end of class
When arriving late, bow into class via the instructor and highest rank (if not the same).
Set a good example in your training and attitude
Encourage all rank levels to seek the best in their training
Caring for the cleanliness and appearance of the dojo
Maintain proper care/folding of your gi (kimono)
Carefully handle and show respect toward your belt.
Treat weapons (live and practice) with respect.
Offensive/Unpolished Behavior
Calling Doshu, or senior rank by their first name
Ignoring senior rank’s title
Ignoring the presence of a senior rank
