Statement of Standardization of Kata & Techniques

Go Jiu Bujitsu from white belt through black belt is a unique blend and combination of traditional Shotokan, Judo, Jiu Jitsu and Aikido. All the techniques and kata have been standardized for decades and there is no theoretical, or practical reason to change them now.

When you perform a given Go Jiu Bujitsu technique or kata, and are doing so in the traditional/classical manner of the component art, then you are performing the technique/kata correctly and in accordance with both the component style’s standard, as well as the standard of Go Jiu Bujitsu.

The Go Jiu Bujitsu practitioner should be able to take a particular technique/kata to a Shotokan only, Aikido only, Judo only, etc. dojo and find little or no difference in technique/kata.

Recognizing that there may be debate or even disagreement as to what is “traditional and/or classical kata and technique”, I have provided a “Reference Book List” for the four primary component martial arts within Go Jiu Bujitsu, and have printed in bold lettering the books which set the standard for kata and technique in Go Jiu Bujitsu.

Traditional and classical technique and kata are the standard; thus, standardization is simplified and complete.
