GO JIU BUJITSU
“The Way of Hard & Soft Martial Arts”

MEANING OF OUR EMBLEM/PATCH

YIN – YANG:  reminds us to seek harmony and balance in mind and body; to not prefer hard or soft, but to develop the ability to combine hard and soft equally to adapt to every situation in combat and in life;

HEART:  reminds us to face life with a vision of a heart-shaped world where unselfish love and caring are virtues by which to live;

FIST:  reminds us to face life with our innate strength and power to endure, to overcome and to win; using this strength and power for success in all things, to defend yourself, to protect the weak and innocent, and defend truth, honor and righteousness;

STARS:  reminds us to live with patriotism for our country, the United States of America; the four stars represent yourself, your family, your community and your country; and the fifth star is for goal setting as in, “Always reach for the stars in all you do.”

YELLOW-GOLD COLOR:  is to remember to live by the “Golden Rule”, “treat others as you would have them treat you”.

BLACK OCTAGON PERIMETER: reminds us of our eight maxims and code of ethics; reminds us that in living out the ideals of our patch/emblem, we do not do so blindly; instead, to approach life using a permeable barrier consisting of logic, reason, and common sense; reminds us that with our octagon, we practice “the civilized mixed martial art”; and, it reminds us of the most basic philosophy of the I-Ching (book of changes) and the Pa Kua/Ba Gua (eight phenomena) of  (1) the dynamic balance of opposites, (2) the evolution of events as a process, and (3) the acceptance of the inevitability of change.
